Sorsogon II Electric Cooperative (SORECO II) emerged as a transformative force in electrifying the Sorsogon region, evolving from a small local electric plant to a dynamic cooperative serving multiple municipalities. Established on April 14, 1977, the cooperative has navigated challenges and growth, ultimately becoming a critical infrastructure provider for the local community.
Established on April 14, 1977, with an initial franchise covering 8 municipalities: Donsol, Pilar, Castilla, Sorsogon, Bacon, Gubat, Prieto Diaz, and Barcelona.
Started with 2,595 consumers in 17 barangays, using an initial capital of ₱16 Million from the National Electrification Administration (NEA).
Transformed from a non-stock, non-profit cooperative to a stock cooperative in 1996, registered with the Cooperative Development Authority under Registration No. QC-1487-EC-005.
Provides electrical services across multiple municipalities, with continuous expansion of its distribution network and energization of new barangays.
Beyond electricity, the cooperative has explored secondary purposes like cable TV systems, with a CATV system launched in Bacon district in 1999.
Continues to operate as an electric cooperative, with ongoing efforts to improve service efficiency, reduce system losses, and serve its member-consumers.
